Title (Max 100 Characters)
Some Lake Joy Primary students received a special visit from a famous couple, to talk about the importance of good citizenship and what it's like to be a governor and first lady of Georgia.
Former Governor Sonny Perdue and his wife, Mary, spent time with the second grade class.
They talked about roles and responsibilities of being a citizen, and the importance of voting.
The class discussed the branches of government, and what the Governor's role is.
The Purdues also talked about the power of education, and the importance of graduating from high school.
"That's the key here, and it's never too early to start talking about it. We like to take opportunities. Mary did a lot of it when we were in office, and we still talk to kids quite often," said Perdue.
The Perdues say they don't keep a schedule of schools to visit, but they try to respond to invitations when possible.
