Chase Ends at Galleria Mall in Warner Robins
Crime

The driver of a car that led police on a car chase through several counties was still in the hospital Wednesday night.

Several law enforcement agencies got involved as the car traveled at speeds over 120 miles per hour down 1-75 in Lamar County Wednesday morning.

After coming through Monroe, Bibb, and Peach Counties, the driver, 26-year-old Jeremy Haugabook of Stockbridge, took the Watson Boulevard exit.

He ran several traffic lights and collided with two vehicles attempting to pass through an intersection near the Galleria Mall in Centerville.

Warner Robins Police spokeswoman Tabitha Pugh says at least one person was injured in the accident.

Sergeant Mike Maynard with the Georgia State Patrol said Haugabook ran from the accident scene, but was captured shortly after.

The suspect attempted to hide in a Goodwill donation trailer, according to a news release from Allison Selman-Willis, spokeswoman with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Selman-Willis tells 13WMAZ that Haugabook faces charges of:

  • possession of marijuana and suspected cocaine
  • fleeing and attempting to elude
  • driving on a suspended license
  • speeding 120+ in a 65 mph zone
  • passing in the emergency lane
  • reckless driving
  • leaving the scene of an accident with injuries

MCSO took the lead on the chase after the Lamar County deputy's car got a flat in Macon.
