Second Person Dead In Byron Motel Shooting
Crime

A second man has died after a shooting after a Thursday-morning Wednesday at the Econo Lodge, 12003 Watson Blvd. in Byron.

Warner Robins police said Kenneth Sharpe, 32, of Biloxi, Miss. was a suspect in the shooting death of Matthew Garner, 23, of Warner Robins.

Garner was found shot to death outside one of the rooms on the second floor, around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

Sharpe died several hours later, in Oxford, Ala., as a result of a gunshot wound.

Through witness accounts, police believe Sharpe and Garner got into an argument at the Byron motel that resulted in gun fire from both men.

Garner was shot in the chest and Sharpe fled to Alabama where he also died from a gunshot wound, police said.

Sharpe was with a woman named Emily Hooker. She has been charged in Alabama with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a gun without a permit, the news release stated.

Warner Robins police are working with the Oxford, Ala. Police Department to develop more details in the case.
