Funeral Arrangements Announced for Rep. Anthony Edward "Tony" Sellier

There will be two visitations held on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at the Byron Municipal Complex; the first beginning at 11a.m. until 2 p.m. and the second from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a Rosary service immediately following at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at St. Juliana’s Catholic Church in Ft. Valley, Georgia at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Rooks Funeral Home in Byron is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made either to the American Cancer Society or a favored charity.

13 Days of Giving: Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Heart of Georgia serves children in Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Greene, Hancock, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Laurens, Monroe, Peach, Twiggs, Washington, and Wilkinson Counties.  

They have been providing help for community kids since 1953.   Children who have mentors go to school more often, get higher grades, get along with others better, and have higher levels of self esteem.

To help with this project you can volunteer to be a mentor, or donate holiday items for families.

Local Animal Rescue Asks for Nut Donations

Star Bright Animal Rescue is asking pecan tree owners to donate any 2010 excess crop to help raise money.

The shelter will turn the crop into local processors and the money will help pay for the medical care of area homeless animals.

Star Bright Animal Rescue is a non-profit, charitable organization located in Byron and Perry and is also a licensed shelter with the Department of Agricultre.

On average, the shelter has 25-30 animals costing $1000 or more a month, Cathy Compton of Star Bright Animal Rescue says.

Donations will be accepted through Dec. 17.

Drop-off locations:

Star Bright Animal Rescue, 3101 Moseley Rd. in Byron

Southwood Animal Hospital, 2523 Moody Rd. in Warner Robins

Perry Animal Hospital, 633 General Courtney Hodges Blvd.

All proceeds will go to the medical care of the animals.

Robins Senior Leadership to Serve Thanksgiving Dinner

Robins Senior Leadership will be serving a Thanksgiving feast on Thursday, Nov. 25 in the Wynn Dining Facility as part of an annual tradition.

While the dining facility is normally reserved for enlisted Airmen, the holiday meal will b open to all active duty members, reservists, retirees and their families.

Manning the serving lines, carving the turkey, ham and beef will be guest chefs including:

Brigadier Gen. Lee Levy, commander, 402nd Maintenance Wing; Col. Carl Buhler, commander, 78th Air Base Wing, several group commanders, chief master sergeants and first sergeants.

Shirley Sexton, Wynn Dining Facility manager says there will be all the expected Thanksgiving extras, from mashed potatoes and dressing to fresh-made desserts.

Happy Hour's Yard Sale

Recycled treasures will be available at Happy Hour’s monthly indoor yard sale.

It will be held on Dec. 11 from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. located at 716 N. Young Ave, Warner Robins in the Workshop II Building.

A large selection of items will be available for sale.

All proceeds from the sale go directly back to serving our clients needs.
