VHS Presents "Elephant's Graveyard" | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – The Veteran’s High School Theatre Department will present Elephant’s Graveyard on Oct. 25 and Oct. 26, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door.
Based on a historical event, this play by George Brant explores the collision between a circus, the railroad and the town, which demands that an elephant be executed for killing one of its handlers. Set in the Tennessee backwater of Erwin in 1916, the nexus of Elephant’s Graveyard’s may be summed up by its recurrent refrain: “There was a town and there was a railroad and there was a circus and there was a man with red hair, and there was an elephant.”
Veteran’s High is located at 340 Piney Grove Road in Kathleen. The play is directed by drama teacher Cindy Sams. For more information, please call 478-218-7737 or e-mail Cindy.Sams@hcbe.net.
