Operation Military Kids COMES To Houston County! | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
What is OMK?
OMK stands for Operation: Military Kids and it is the U.S. Army's collaborative effort with America's communities to provide programs, activities and events that support ALL children and youth impacted by deployment. Regardless of whether families are experiencing deployment for the first time, the second time or another in a series of multiple deployments, OMK’s goal is to connect military children and youth with local resources in order to achieve a sense of community support and enhance their well-being.
What is OMK going to do in Houston County?
The Houston County 4-H Program and various local partners from the community are planning and will be delivering free OMK programs and activities for any military connected youth in Houston County. To be contacted about these events please sign up for our list serve by going to Operation Military Kids on the Houston County 4-H Website (www.houston4h.org). There are numerous opportunities for military youth to connect with other military youth and for non-military youth to serve their community and military families.
This sounds great! What does 4-H/OMK need from the Houston County community?
- We are looking for all military youth ages K-12 who are in need of support activities/outlets while their loved one is deployed, whether they live on/near Robins AFB or not.
- We are looking for any military youth who has a loved one preparing to leave for deployment or having come back from a recent deployment, whether they live on/near Robins AFB or not.
- We are looking for any youth or adult who wants to help military youth and families and may not know exactly how. Volunteers can help us directly with you or indirectly with more programmatic tasks.
