Warner Robins' Unemployment Rate Unchanged in February

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said today that the preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in the metro Warner Robins area remained unchanged at 7.8 percent in February, from a revised 7.8 percent in January.

The jobless rate in the metro Warner Robins area in February 2010 was 8.0 percent. 

 The area added 100 jobs in February and there were fewer layoffs in construction, retail trade, and administrative and support services.  

 Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for February was 10.2 percent, down one-tenth of a percentage point, from a revised 10.3 percent in January. The state’s jobless rate was also 10.3 percent in February 2010.

February marked the 41st consecutive month that Georgia has exceeded the national unemployment rate, which is currently 8.9 percent.

Northside MS FBLA Speaks at Local Optimist Club

Northside Middle School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members recently spoke at an International City Optimist Club meeting.  Students spoke on the topics:

--“What is FBLA?”

--“What are the benefits we gain from being involved?” and

--Northside Middle’s involvement with FBLA – community service, competition and conferences, fundraising and social enrichment.

Cooley Appointed to Flint Energies Board of Directors

REYNOLDS –Leighton Cooley of Roberta, Georgia has been appointed by the Flint Energies Board of Directors to fill the vacancy created by Robert L. Dickey III of Musella, who resigned upon being elected to serve in the Georgia House of Representatives.  Cooley will represent Area V, Post 1 – Crawford, Monroe & Upson counties.

Cooley is a fourth generation family farmer in Crawford County. Along with his father, they raise chickens, cattle and hay. He is a member of the Crawford County Farm Bureau, where he serves as Vice President. In 2008, Cooley served as Chairman of the Georgia Farm Bureau Young Farmer Committee and has just completed representing Georgia on the Young Farmer and Rancher Committee of the American Farm Bureau.  He is also active in the Roberta Evangelistic Church, serving as Youth Director and in support of the music program.

Software Support Facility to Open at Robins

Base officials will cut the ribbon Friday on a building which will connect the 402nd Software Maintenance Group's three existing facilities and make it a massive, single complex.

 The $21M, 77,000 sq. ft. building was built by McKnight Construction of Augusta, Ga. The combined structure has 350,000 square feet of floor space - the equivalent of six football fields.

 The 402nd Software Maintenance Group employs more than 800 engineers who develop, test and maintain software for a wide range of U.S. aircraft and other weapons systems, including the F-22, Joint Strike Fighter, Global Hawk and Predator.


Brig. Gen. Lee Levy, 402d Maintenance Wing commander will host the event.  Maj. Gen. Robert McMahon, Warner Robins Air Logistics Center commander, is also expected to attend, as well as base personnel and community leaders.

With the funding of seven applications at their most recent meeting March 10, the Flint Energies Foundation has now donated $1 million to local charities and organizations in Houston County alone since 2001.  Nearly $2.4 million has been donated to the 16 counties in Flint’s service area since the Foundation’s inception.

The Flint Energies Foundation is a non-profit organization, funded through the Operation Round Up® program by members of Flint Energies.

“Through the members of Flint, the Flint Energies Foundation has made a great impact on the quality of life in Middle Georgia,” said Marian Douglas, Manager of Public Relations for Flint Energies. “This important work could not be accomplished without the Flint Energies members who allow us to round up their monthly electric bills to the next even dollar.”

Owned by Jason & Tarah Faiella, Premier Paint & Body Shop is a full service collision repair facility.
