Warner Robins' jobless rate jumped to 7.9 percent in November (preliminary), up from 7.4 percent in October, and 7 percent for November 2009, according to a Georgia Department of Labor news release.

2nd Annual Peach & Houston County Legislative Issues Survey Results Released

 

Of the 55 total responses from Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce, Perry Chamber of Commerce and Peach County Chamber of Commerce, some participants are members of more than one chamber. Some participants could have responded to more than one survey. There were 47 responses last year.

The three different chambers’ open-ended answers to the open-ended question, “What do you see as the single greatest challenge facing your business that can and should be addressed by the Houston and Peach County Legislative Delegation in Atlanta 2011?” are listed below.

The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted its final Ribbon Cutting of the year for Pediatric Dentistry of Central Georgia on Tuesday, December 14, 2010.

Pediatric Dentistry of Central Georgia specializes in pediatrics.  Dr. Moore and her dedicated staff care about the dental health and emotional happiness of every young friend.

“Parents face an important decision when choosing the right healthcare provider for their children,” said Dr. Moore.  “That is why, at Pediatric Dentistry of Central Georgia, we always keep an ‘open door’ to parents by inviting them to come back with their child during every dental visit.”

Chamber Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Shane’s Rib Shack

The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a Ribbon Cutting for Shane’s Rib Shack on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

Shane’s Rib Shack is a family owned and operated franchise.  According to local owner, Trinette Rosales and her brother, Charlie Elliott, they both fell in love with the Shane’s concept after trying it for the first time.

“We made one phone call about three year ago,” said Rosales.  “And here we are today!”

Elliott says their objective at Shane’s Rib Shack is to help out the economy with great service to the community.  “We are here to continue to grow the local economy," said Elliot.

Started in 2002 by Shane Thompson of McDonough, Ga., Shane’s big idea grew from a little shack to become the fastest growing BBQ restaurant concept in the nation.

2 Guys And A Pie is November’s Small Business of the Month Award Recipient

The Small Business of the Month Committee of the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce presented 2 Guys And a Pie with the Small Business of the Month Award for November 2010.

2 Guys and A Pie Pizzeria opened in June 2008 and is an independent, family-owned and operated pizzeria. 

“We make our own pizza dough, pizza sauce and marinara as well as our desserts from scratch,” says co-owner, Matt Nemeroff.  “We serve New York style pizza, with southern hospitality.”

2 Guys And A Pie provides opportunities for employees that result in low turnover.  Co-owner, Ray McLeod III has served in the Air Force and wanted the restaurant to be located in an area that was conducive to Robins Air Force Base to conveniently be a service to our military.

“We want to be the official pizzeria for Warner Robins,” says Nemeroff.

The Chamber Hosted Ribbon Cutting for Stevi B’s Pizza

The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a Ribbon Cutting for Stevi B’s Pizza on Thursday, Dec. 9.

Stevi B's is a franchise that is focused on providing a family-fun atmosphere and dedicated to serving the community.

“We will be an involved restaurant by supporting the individuals, organizations and causes that make this community a better place,” said owner, Jarius Bee.  “To assist our local community, Stevi B's has created programs and incentives to help raise funds, increase volunteer participation and recognize the hard work of volunteers.”

Mayor Chuck Shaheen was present and shared his appreciation at the event, along with Warner Robins City Council members Bob Wilbanks and John Williams.  Also present was Jason Ashford (recently elected), the late Donald Walker’s widow, Mrs. Patricia Walker, and an array of many other community and business leaders.
