Flint Energies Searches for Members Owed Refunds

Flint Energies is searching for 14,000 members that are owed capital credit refunds.

Capital credits are somewhat similar to the dividends paid to shareholders of investor-owned utilities except the cooperative’s shareholders are also the member-consumers that it serves.

The “dividends” (capital credits) are distributed to Flint’s member-consumers, a Flint Energies news release says.

In the fall of each year, Flint Energies refunds capital credits.  Current active members due a refund received a credit on their Flint bill.  Members that no longer get their electric service from Flint are mailed a check.  Flint most recently refunded capital credits for the years 1981-1982 and half of 1983.

Due to the transient nature of Flint’s membership base, many former members have moved away from Flint’s service area without leaving a forwarding address.

Chamber Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Super 8

Chamber Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Super 8

The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a Ribbon Cutting for Super 8 on Tuesday, January 18.

Located at 105 Woodcrest Blvd, Super 8 of Warner Robins, Super 8 is a 53 room hotel with renovated exterior as well as interior.  The current management took over the business in late 2007 and has been renovating the interior since then.

However, the majority of renovations were done in 2010.

“The renovations included putting in brand new Serta beddings, all new cherry finished furniture and new interior wall colors,” said Samir Cholera, Manager.

The biggest renovation of all was done to the exterior of the building in November 2010, which included installing modern style stucco all around the building and installing a brand new roof. Both of which had not been done since the construction of the building back in 1985.

For more information, call Super 8 at 478-923-8600.
