Chamber Honors Judith McCune as Outstanding Employee

The Robins Regional Chamber’s Small Business of the Month Committee presented Judith McCune, Dance Instructor for Academy of Dance, with the Outstanding Employee Award for the month of February 2011.

Judith McCune, affectionately known as Miss Judy, was once the owner and director at the Academy of Dance.  She has mentored many young Warner Robins women throughout her nearly 30 year tenure at the Academy.

“She was not just a teacher,” says current Director, Kim Rowley.  “But she is a mother and now grandmother figure who goes beyond her position of teacher and still supports the Academy with fundraisers, seamstress duties, office work, as backstage manager during shows and as prop maker; refusing to take payment for many of the things she loves to do.”

Rowley says that Miss Judy is the reason many people bring their grandchildren to dance at the Academy and that she has never let her knee replacements slow her down.  If there is a position to volunteer for, Rowley says that Miss Judy is ready and able to volunteer.

“Without her guidance and support, I would not have had the seamless transition to new director of the Academy,” says Rowley.  “For this I am truly grateful and proud to call her "mom" rather than my employee.  If anyone is truly outstanding and deserving of this award, it is Miss Judy.  Ask anyone who has ever come in contact with her and they would agree.”

To congratulate Ms. Judy, call the Academy of Dance at 478.922.6220.
