Get Organized: Make a List | Business
Every since I was a little girl I have been in love with writing lists. My mother and grandmother were great list makers with columns of words sprinkled around the piece of paper. Today I still love a handwritten list as my ever present notebook of list proves.
However, my list writing days may be soon be over. Now there is a great online resource for printable lists of every kind imaginable - ListPlanIt.com. The categories of lists available on ListPlanIt.com range from family matters to financial planning to time management to fun.
I have been exploring the site for about 2 weeks now. I think my favorite is the My 21 Meals in the meal planning section. Planning dinners is frequently painful for me but this list is based on the premise that we cook the same series of meals over and over again. By simply writing down the meals that my family likes, I can now refer to this list instead of reinventing the wheel!
A quick client story - I was working with a client last week who suffers from ADD and was having a hard time concentrating on one task long enough to complete it particularly when it came to house keeping. As a result the vacuuming never got completed and the laundry was only half done. She asked for some suggestions on how to keep on task and I suggested making herself a checklist for cleaning each room. As she completes a task she could check it off the list and move to the next. But if she gets distracted, she can come back to the list and see where she left off and start again. Instead of writing a list from scratch, we went to ListPlanIt.com and downloaded the Home ePlanner. The list of chores she needed was right there in black and white. Because of this simple find, my client was doing a happy dance when I left. That’s my favorite way to leave a client!
