Chambers to Host Information Session on Charter Schools Amendment | Business
WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional and Perry Area Chambers of Commerce will host an information session regarding the upcoming vote on the proposed Charter Schools Amendment. The event will be held from 6:00- 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Robins Regional Chamber; 1228 Watson Blvd. in Warner Robins.
The meeting is an information only session which will allow business and community members in the Robins Region to make an informed decision when the time comes to vote for or against the proposed Charter Schools Amendment. Questions to be collected on index cards, and then asked by the moderator. There will be a 15 minute time slot for each side to speak then 30 minutes of questions.
“We’re working jointly with the Perry Chamber to coordinate this session for our members,” said Chamber President & CEO, Morgan Law. “We feel that it will be a great opportunity for voters to learn facts about the Charter Schools Amendment in order to make the best informed decision they can on November 6th.”
Perry Chamber President & CEO, Stacy Campbell also commented saying, “The Perry Area Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee wanted to offer our members an opportunity to learn more about the Georgia Charter Schools Amendment and is pleased to partner with the Robins Regional Chamber to provide this avenue.”
Presenters will include Pastor Tony Lowden with Families for Better Pubic Schools, an organization “for” the proposed amendment and Tracey-Ann Nelson, Director of Government Relations/Coalitions & Research with the opposing group, the Georgia Association of Educators. Former Houston County Commission Chairman, Ned Sanders will moderate the session.
Both the Robins Regional Chamber and Perry Area Chamber are impartial on the issue and neither support nor oppose the proposed Charter Schools Amendment. This event is free and open to the public.
