REYNOLDS/WARNER ROBINS/UPATOI – Flint Energies reports, with great sadness, the passing of William L. Brown, Chairman of the Board of Flint Energies. Brown passed away on Thursday, September 18th. Brown joined Flint Energies in 1986 when he was appointed to the Co-op Board to represent Area III, Post 1 – Macon, Dooly and Sumter counties. He was a farmer by trade and owner and operator of William Brown Farms of Montezuma. He had been farming since 1965. During his tenure with Flint Energies, he served as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, Secretary-Treasurer and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. Spending countless hours championing rural electrification in Middle Georgia, Brown will be greatly missed at the Cooperative and in the counties he represented.

Brown also played a very active role in the community and supported numerous organizations and associations. He served on the Board of Wachovia Bank, Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service Board, AGGA Farm Credit Board of Directors, South Central Farm Credit Board and was a member representative of Oglethorpe Power Corporation. He was a member of Montezuma United Methodist Church.

“William Brown was a true gentleman, a tremendous businessman, and a generous friend. As Chairman of Flint’s Board, he was amazing in the vision he possessed and just how far he could see forward from a dirt road in Macon County. Mr. Brown was a definite giant in the foundation of Flint, and he is already deeply missed. We are better for his being a leader of this cooperative and we stand taller on his shoulders to pursue our purpose that he so strongly believed in.” said Bob Ray, President/CEO of Flint Energies.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, September 20 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 21 at 3:00 p.m. at Montezuma United Methodist Church in Montezuma.
