Tri-City Mayors to Give Proclamations for Chamber Week 2012

WARNER ROBINS, GA- Warner Robins Mayor, Chuck Shaheen; Centerville Mayor, John Harley; and Perry Mayor, Jimmy Faircloth will give an official proclamation for the 2012 Chamber Week TODAY at 2:00p.m.  Event will be held at the Chamber offices; 1228 Watson Blvd.  The Robins Regional Chamber anticipates an exciting time as they host the very first Chamber Week (May 14- 18, 2012).  A brand new initiative of the Chamber, the week will showcase the role that the Chamber plays in the community by focusing on leadership development, community and government advocacy, education and networking.

Shred Day to Help Protect Central Georgia Identities

 Robins Federal Credit Union will host four Shred Day events in an effort to protect the Middle Georgia community from identity theft.

Shred Day Warner Robins – Thursday, May 3 at 803 Watson Boulevard.

Shred Day Gray – Thursday, May 3 at 287 W. Clinton Street.

Shred Day Macon – Friday, May 4 at 5999 Zebulon Road.

Shred Day Milledgeville – Friday, May 4 at 2584 N. Columbia Street

Each event will take place from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

People are encouraged to bring any sensitive information – such as receipts, financial statements and documents containing personal information – to either branch location parking lot for shredding in the Cintas Document Management shred truck.

8th Annual Old Book Sale to Feature 90K Books

The Houston County Friends of the Library Old Book Sale returns to Houston County with 90,000 books in 70 categories.

That's according to a Houston County Friends of the Library news release.

The book sale is May 3-5 at the Georgia National Faigrounds and Agricenter.
Here's the schedule:

Thursday, May 3: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

  • $5 admission at the door,
  • Friends/Members enter free.

Friday, May 4: 9 a.m. , 8 p.m.

  • Free admission

Saturday, May 5: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

  • Free admission
  • 50% off books

Robins Federal Credit Union Names 2012 MEST Scholarship Recipients

Robins Federal Credit Union recently presented five high school seniors from Middle Georgia with the Robins Federal Credit Union Most Excellent Senior Team (MEST) Scholarship.

The winners were as follows:

  • Dalton Edge, Mary Persons High School
  • Carey Green, Peach Co. High School
  • Joy Kim, Veterans High School
  • Hannah Lowie, Wynfield Christian Academy
  • Kaci Pedersen, Wheeler Co. High School

One hundred nineteen high school seniors applied for the scholarship. The winners were chosen based on their GPA, SAT scores, extracurricular and community activities, a written essay and financial need. Each scholarship winner will receive a total of $4,000 ($1,000 per academic year.)

Air Show Features Blue Angels

Air Show Features Blue Angels

ROBINS, AFB., GA.--The Air Show lineup features performers including the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, F-18 Hornets, the C-130 Hercules, and the Air Force F-22 Raptor.

The air show is free and open to the public and starts at 11:30 a.m.

You can park at the Macon Airport, McConnell-Talbert Stadium and Anchor Glass and then catch bus transportation to the show. The shuttle starts at 9:45 a.m. both days and gates open at 10 a.m.

The shuttle runs until 5 p.m.
