2014 Houston County STAR Students, Teachers & STAR System Winners Announced

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber’s Educational Foundation and the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2014 Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) System Award winners.  The 2014 STAR System Winners for Houston County are: student- Willa M. Wang and teacher- Sherin Hinnant from Houston County High School.  The award is given to one student from a high school in the county.  STAR students compete for System Title and System STAR student in turn compete for region honors in the 12 STAR Regions.  Region winners and their STAR teachers are invited to further compete for the state STAR awards.

Six seniors and teachers from each high school in Houston County were awarded on Wednesday evening.  The 2014 STAR students and their teachers who were recognized include:

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber’s monthly Award Selection Committee presented Cyndi Wright, IT Coordinator for Middle Georgia Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine, with the Outstanding Employee Award for January 2014.  Potential winner must be employed by a member of the Robins Regional Chamber, offers quality customer service and is dedicated to his employer.  The award presentation is sponsored by Spherion Staffing Services of Middle Georgia.

“Cyndi began working at Middle Georgia Orthopaedic in June 2003 and she quickly became a valuable employee to our organization,” said Administrator Steve Smith.  “Ms. Wright's first position was as a Transcriptionist and she was promoted to being the supervisor over the Transcription Department.”

 

Since then Cyndi’s role has expanded to include Information Technology coordination and she is a key member of the Executive Management team.

Chamber Honors Robins Family Housing As January Business of the Month

     WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Business of the Month Committee of the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce presented  Huntington Village (Robins Family Housing), located at 75 MLK Blvd with the January Business of the Month (BOM) Award.  The presentation was sponsored by Ambassador Personnel.

After having an issue with a wild pest in her home, a resident of Robins Family Housing explained why she though the company was deserving of the award.

 

“I reside in one of the older homes on base and from time to time we may have a few problems that will occur like any housing community,” she said.  “Recently, my son found a snake in the kitchen that went under the refrigerator.”

 

The resident said that her husband and sons removed the snake without any harm and the next day she immediately contacted Robins Housing and informed them of what they had found.

Business of the Year Award to Be Presented at the 64th Annual Chamber Meeting

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Business of the Year Award, along with several other prestigious awards will be presented at the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 64th Annual Meeting; to be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Warner Robins.  Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for a social period with heavy hors d’oeuvres and the program will begin at 6:45 p.m.

Nurse Manager for Caring Solutions Pregnancy Center with the Outstanding Employee Award for November 2013.  Potential winner must be employed by a member of the Robins Regional Chamber, offers quality customer service and is dedicated to his employer.  The award presentation is sponsored by Spherion Staffing Services of Middle Georgia.

Karla is a 20-year labor/delivery veteran nurse who has chosen to work for Caring Solutions, a non-profit organization, to provide excellent care to their unique clients.

“Karla could work anywhere in Houston county and make 4 times what we are able to pay her,” said Laura Caum, Director for Caring Solutions’ Warner Robins office.  “Instead she has a heart and mind for our work in crisis pregnancy.”

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Business of the Month Committee of the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce presented Total Computer Solutions, located at 353 Robins West Pkwy, with the November Business of the Month (BOM) Award. Potential winner must be a chamber member in good standing, actively involved in the Robins Regional Chamber, possess great customer service, products and services, advocate for business in the Robins Region and have a proven history of voluntary efforts and endeavors to support the business and local community.  The award presentation was sponsored by Ambassador Personnel.
