WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting and grand opening for Family Promise of Houston County.

Located at 213 McArthur Boulevard in Warner Robins, Family Promise is a nonprofit 501(c) (3), non-denominational organization for families in transition and is part of a national organization founded in 1986. The Family Promise Network Program provides shelter, meals and support services to families without homes through a network of local congregations.

Family Promise of Houston County assists homeless children and their families in order to transition from their current situation into independent living.  The families stay at the Day Center during the daytime where the network director/case manager works with them to provide any needed training such as financial and job skills as well as connecting them with needed social services.  The families are provided assistance with job placement and finding affordable housing.  In the evening, the host churches provide lodging, food and loving care.

“We are so excited to have the support of not only all 3 mayors in Houston County, but also the County Commission Chairman, Tommy Stalnaker,” said Ronnie Shivers, President for the organization.  “We’ve received a lot of support from throughout the entire Robins Region and even from churches in Bibb County ready and willing to partner with us.  We are excited to offer this opportunity to so many families in need.”

The Board of Directors for Family Promise recently appointed Nicole Rosser as the first director of Family Promise of Greater Houston County.  Rosser officially began her duties April 8 and is already busy developing Community Partners for the Family Promise Network.  She began interviewing potential guests at the beginning of May.

“Nicole brings excellent educational credentials to this position as well as an impressive resume of community involvement through her employment with HODAC and as the Executive Director of the Salvation Army Safe House for seven years,” said Shivers.  “We are happy to have her.”
