Motorists better think twice before passing a school bus in Houston County.

The board of education approved a measure Tuesday to add cameras to the sides of 20 buses to catch drivers who go around when the stop signs are extended.

That's only a fraction of the 180 buses the system uses daily.

An outside company will install and manage the systems at no direct cost to the schools.

Houston County Sheriff's Department will review images from the camera to determine whether to issue a ticket. If so, the ticket will be mailed to the driver.

Revenue from the tickets will then be split between the sheriff's department, school system and the company that runs the cameras.
