Shirley Hills student places third in NFL National Championship |

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – A Shirley Hills Elementary fourth grade student, Isabella “Bella” Winston, competed in the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick National Championship. She placed third in her age category with 190.1 feet for the Atlanta Falcons. The competition was held in Denver, Col. on Jan. 11 and 12, 2014.
The NFL Punt, Pass & Kick (PPK) program is a free, national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15. The youth compete against each other in a fun and engaging forum. Established in 1961, the PPK program is the oldest NFL Youth Football program.
Bella began the NFL competition in Warner Robins, in September at Memorial Park. Upon winning her division, she advanced to the NFL PPK sectional competition in November, also held at Memorial Park in Warner Robins. There she qualified to compete in the NFL PPK Falcons Team Championship, held at the Georgia Dome on Dec. 15, 2013.
The PPK program is free, both for the competitors and organizers who host a local competition. Thousands of youth from around the country participate in PPK competitions from July through January. It is one of the world's largest youth sports participation programs.
