Silver Beaver Awards to be Announced at Boy Scouts of America Annual Recognition Banquet

The 2011 Annual Recognition Banquet will be held January 20, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.  at Macon State College in Macon, Georgia. 

This year the 2010 Class of Eagle Scouts and Silver Beaver Award Recipients, Council Officers, as well as a volunteer for being elected in the BSA 100th Anniversary National Hall of Leadership and a great year of Scouting will be recognized.   

 In addition, the keynote speaker for the evening will be Assistant Chief Scout Executive Robert “Alf” Tuggle, National Boy Scouts of America. 

A native of Monticello, GA, Tuggle oversees the Marketing Group, which includes public relations, the 100th Anniversary Celebration and publications including Scouting and Boys’ Life magazines.

Tuggle also manages the Human Resources Group, which includes talent management, compensation and benefits and the innovation and research teams. He also leads the Information Delivery Group and Strategic Planning team.

 Tickets for the banquet event are $22 per person and may be obtained by contacting the Central Georgia Council at 478-743-9386.

According to a news release, the Silver Beaver is the highest honor a Council can award. This award is based on longtime outstanding service to youth within the Central Georgia Council.

These volunteers will be recognized as Silver Beavers:

Todd Tolbert, Monroe County
Earl Reneman, Houston County
Willie Frank, Putnam County
Paul Ely, Bibb County
Andy Walton, Monroe County

The Central Georgia Council is one of the largest councils in Georgia geographically, serving 24 counties of middle Georgia.  Over 5,700 youth are served each year in programs from first grade through high school. 

About 1,800 adult volunteers serve Scouting under the guidance of a volunteer board of directors and a relatively small professional staff of five. Assisting the volunteers and professionals is an administrative support staff of four.
