Houston County has some of the best-performing schools in Central Georgia.

Most Bibb County schools aren't making the grade.

Two Warner Robins Seniors Sign Scholarships

Asha Stegall is heading to Georgia Southern to run track and play basketball.

Jada Everett signed with Wallace Community College in Selma, Alabama.

Stegall  earned a state championship trophy in the 400 meters last year and could repeat this year.  She is a three time region champ and also averaged 14 points a game in basketball.

Jada Everett (in the pink blazer) was part of a volleyball team that won a region championship.

Head Coach Bryan Way says they expect to have one more senior sign a college scholarship and that would bring their total signing class up to eight this year.

Macon Police Search Cemetery for 71-Year-Old

By Judy Le, 13WMAZ.com

Macon police are searching Riverside Cemetery for a missing 71-year-old man.

Police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet says city workers discovered Mann's van in the cemetery early Wednesday.

She said officers are now conducting a grid search of the cemetery off Riverside Drive in downtown Macon.

Mann went missing after he and his wife left a Macon doctor's office in separate cars yesterday afternoon.

Elaine Mann told police she turned from Riverside Drive on to Lee Road, but her husband continued heading south towards the city.

That was around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a police news release.

She hasn't seen or heard from him since, despite repeated attempts to reach him.

"So what we're doing now is calling in some resources and see maybe if he's still inside the cemetery," says Major Robert Grabowski of the Macon police.

Red Cross Awards Ten "Hometown Heroes"

They may be your colleague. They could be the person sitting next to you in a restaurant.

Anyone can be hero. Wednesday, the Central Georgia Chapter of the Red Cross recognized ten of them.

They honored individuals or groups that went above and beyond to help others.

Local Red Cross Director Tracy Willis-Kight says the people they recognize as heroes never consider their deeds heroic.

Willis-Kight said, "Every year, I love making the phone call that they are this year's hero, because they are always shocked and humbled. You really have to coach them to accept this award, because they are just truly heroes in the hearts."

One of the heroes was Amanda Farrell from Warner Robins.
