Centerville Police: Foul Play Suspected in Woman's Disappearance

Centerville's police chief says a missing woman's disappearance is likely foul play.

Chief Sidney Andrews says 38-year-old Kimberly McKenzie was on the phone with her sister Wednesday night when they heard a man tell her, twice, "Get in the back."

Kimberly's sister, Luciana McKenzie, says, "I could hear something in the background. Some guys voice saying "get in the back seat" and she immediately was like hey what's going on? You can have the car. Then her phone dropped."

Centerville police say Macon police recovered McKenzie's vehicle at Key Street and Eisenhower Parkway at around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Chief Andrews the car was abandoned.  He says Centerville police detectives plan to meet with Macon detectives.

Quail Run Elementary School students are looking forward to some special guest readers next week.

Northside High School football players will read to the children on Friday, Feb. 4, at 9 a.m.

First grade teacher Jan Moore arranges the annual activity.

Her son, Tommy, played for the Northside Eagles.

“The players represent excellent role models for our children.  The players not only read to the kids, but they talk to them about the importance of working hard and trying your best in school.”

Hearing on Disputed Lottery Ticket Postponed

A Friday court hearing on a disputed lottery ticket was postponed.

The hearing was scheduled for 10 a.m. before Houston Superior Court Judge George Nunn. But court officials said Nunn was sick.

No new date was set.

In November, Erick Cervantes of Bonaire picked up a lottery prize of $500,000 cash.

Within days, a friend, Jose Antonio Cua-Toc, claimed that the ticket was really his.

Warner Robins police arrested Cua-Toc on several charges, including making terroristic threats. They said he called Cervantes 15 times, threatened his family and demanded the money.

Flint Energies Searches for Members Owed Refunds

Flint Energies is searching for 14,000 members that are owed capital credit refunds.

Capital credits are somewhat similar to the dividends paid to shareholders of investor-owned utilities except the cooperative’s shareholders are also the member-consumers that it serves.

The “dividends” (capital credits) are distributed to Flint’s member-consumers, a Flint Energies news release says.

In the fall of each year, Flint Energies refunds capital credits.  Current active members due a refund received a credit on their Flint bill.  Members that no longer get their electric service from Flint are mailed a check.  Flint most recently refunded capital credits for the years 1981-1982 and half of 1983.

Due to the transient nature of Flint’s membership base, many former members have moved away from Flint’s service area without leaving a forwarding address.
