The old post office on North Davis Drive closed, but now people have another option for mail in Warner Robins.

The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce, City of Warner Robins and Happy Hour Service Center celebrated their teamwork on the the grand opening of Exceptional Mail and More.

The venture will offer private mailbox rentals, money orders, packaging, shipping and more. It's at 202 North Davis Drive, next door to the old US Post Office that closed in February.

The non-profit organization Happy Hour, which serves the city's developmentally disabled, will run the service along with three full-time and one part-time employees.

Mayor Chuck Shaheen said, "It's been a countless number of hours trying to get this done for this day. Were real excited this day has finally come here."

Happy Hour Executive Director Tod Cowart says the organization already owned the building, but paid for about $140,000 in renovations.

Local Couple's Family Among Japan's 'Missing'

The disaster in Japan has left loved ones on a frantic search for those listed as 'missing.'

For some, searching by telephone is the only option.

"This sister I cannot get in touch with, she's in Aizuwakamatsu." Noriko Marks clutches a picture of her older sister, the only one of her three siblings in Japan she hasn't heard from since Friday's quake.

"An incredible story is the night before, 11:30 Thursday night, I'm speaking to my sister, to prepare," says Marks.

Marks says just hours before signs of the tsunami, she warned her sister to stock up on first aid, water, and supplies.

"I felt it somehow, I don't know why, but I felt it," she says.

Hundreds Remember Sullivent Sisters

More than a thousand people packed the sanctuary of Second Baptist
Church Tuesday evening for the funeral of Leslie and Bridget Sullivent.

As the Houston County community mourned the two girls, it also pulled together to make the service a celebration of each one's life.

Those who knew 11-year-old Bridget say she was spunky, outgoing, and always in motion.

A former pastor likened her to a butterfly.

"She was everywhere. All over," he said.

My Teacher is Tops

Students at Feagin Mill Middle School in Warner Robins say band teacher Lloyd McDonald is dedicated to music. McDonald has been teaching band for thirteen years. Tuesday, he won 13 WMAZ's 'My Teacher is Tops' Award.

McDonald says he works hard to help students improve.

"It's just so much fun to see a kid start from scratch, can't play a note, to the end of the year, they're just playing fantastic," McDonald said.

Siblings Brandon Fortson, eighth grade, and Stephanie Fortson, sixth grade, of Warner Robins, nominated McDonald for the award.

"I've enjoyed learning how to play different instruments, learning how to become a musician, and basically learning all I can about music," Brandon Fortson said.

"It helps like understand stuff better by learning music and learning different notes," Stephanie Fortson said.

Brandon Fortson says McDonald teaches notes that matter beyond band class.
