James E. Clements Jr., 55, was arrested and charged with felony murder and burglary. That's according to a news release from police spokeswoman Tabitha Pugh.

She said two other men are also charged with felony murder in the case.

According to Pugh, arrest warrants were signed Friday for Richard Sybert, 29, on felony murder and burglary charges. Pugh said Sybert is the suspected gunman. He was arrested Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla. on unrelated charges.

Hispanic Population Grows In Houston

New Census numbers show Houston County on track to become Central Georgia's largest county.

It's about 16,000 people shy of Bibb County, and those numbers show a particularly big increase in Houston's Hispanic population.

The Hispanic population grew 153-percent in ten years. That equates to about 8,500 people, and about 3,100 of them are under the age of 18.

The growth forced changes in the Houston school system, especially when it comes to helping some of those students learn English as their second language.

Tracie Hamrick at King's Chapel Elementary in Perry talks in terms second graders understand.

All of the students she helped during one class Friday spoke English. But in most of the student's cases, English was not their first language.

Hamrick said, "You want them to do well on the state assessments. You don't want them to be singled out."

Warner Robins Man Convicted of Injuring Baby

A Warner Robins man was convicted Friday of causing severe injuries to a 10-month-old boy.

The Houston County District Attorney's office says 37-year-old Andrew Gonzalez was found guilty of first-degree cruelty to children, aggravated battery and aggravated assault. The jury took about five hours to reach a verdict after the week-long trial, the DA says.

Prosecutors say in July 2007, he was babysitting his girlfriend's infant boy when the child was injured in what they called a shaken-baby case. Gonzalez was unemployed, and the child's mother was working as a 911 dispatcher.

They say the baby needed emergency surgery for head injuries that included hemorrhages and brain swelling.

In a news release, the DA says the victim, Gavin Mcleod, is now 4 years old and loves sports, but will probably never be able to play them. The release says Gavin still suffers from headaches, eye pain and night-terrors.
