How Loud Is Too Loud in City Limits?

Some 13WMAZ viewers want to know, how loud is too loud?

People have called or commented recently, wanting to know how to control loud noises where they live.

In Warner Robins, city code prohibits noise that is "unreasonably loud, disturbing and unnecessary", or "in disturbance of the public peace and welfare".

One homeowner wants to know why a noise problem in her neighborhood doesn't match that definition.

Arteaka Green and her three daughters bought a on Gooseberry Lane, a dead end street, eight years ago.

Green said, "I wanted to place where my children could grow up safely. It was quiet."

Then a new neighbor, a car wash, moved in behind her.

Centerville Students Win Region Stock Market Game

Centerville Elementary fifth-graders in Paula Peavy’s class for gifted students learned about economics by participating in the Georgia Council on Economic Education (GCEE) Stock Market Game.

That's according to a Houston County Board of Education news release.

One of her teams qualified as a regional winner.  On May 3, the children and Peavy will attend a luncheon to be recognized.  Team members are:  Jake Maddox, Logan Cowperthwaite and William Catey.

Are you hearing the Cicadas?

Are you hearing the Cicadas?

Many viewers are telling us that they're hearing the cicadas.

Have you seen any of these noise-making culprits? Some viewers are telling us they are louder this week than they were when they first emerged.

Ya'll Stop By And Sit A Spell

Ya'll Stop By And Sit A Spell

This weekend I made a stop in Old Downtown Byron, Georgia. Who ever said Byron was a sleepy little town was wrong...Check out this very cool Deli..right in the heart of downtown.

Sara Jo McLean, (Warner Robins, Georgia) owns this deli, they opened their doors in December 2010.  Speaking with Sara's daughter, I've come to find out that she was a former military wife like myself. It seems that giving half the chance we can take a little bit from everywhere we've been and then bring it back home to make something special like the "Drugstore Deli".

Sara has stayed true to the name as well.  She tried out another name in the beginning but everyone kept calling it the drugstore deli. It's kinda hard to change anybody's mind here in the South. Especially when we associate it with directions and certain childhood memories. So the next time you're in middle Georgia or want a change of scenery, go have lunch in Byron at the Drugstore Deli.
