'Click It Or Ticket' Begins Today

Even more than usual, cops are hunting Georgia's roads today for people who aren't wearing their seat belts.

That's because today is the kick-off for the national "Click It or Ticket" campaign.

State officials with the Governor's Office of Highway Safety are reminding you that your local cops, Sheriff's offices, and the Georgia State Patrol will be on an increased lookout for drivers and passengers who aren't wearing their seat belts.

Officials say the campaign is an effort to save lives.

In 2011, the state of Georgia had 421 traffic deaths that involved a victim who wasn't wearing a seat belt.

This year, the state is on track to see more than 400 of those deaths in 2013.

If they catch you without your seat belt, you could get a ticket and face a hefty fine.

Actor John Travolta donated his Gulfstream G-2 to the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame, a state agency based at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins.

Lance Toland, chairman of the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame, says Travolta hopes his donation will inspire children to study math, science and aerospace.

He says the aircraft was built in Savannah, and the actor flew the plane for over 20 years with several famous names along for the ride.

Senator Staton Earns A+ Rating from Georgia Chamber

Senator Staton Earns A+ Rating from Georgia Chamber

State Senator Cecil Staton (R-Macon) has received the highest ranking given on the Georgia Chamber’s Legislative Scorecard. The Chamber’s legislative scorecard recognizes legislators that supported strong business initiatives during the 2013 legislative session.

“It is an honor to receive this distinction by the Georgia Chamber for my efforts to strengthen Georgia’s business community,” said Sen. Staton. “Each time I cast a vote in the Senate chamber, I take into careful consideration how each bill will impact Georgia’s long-term economic growth and development.  I look forward to working with my colleagues in the General Assembly to continue supporting policy initiatives that attract quality jobs to Georgia.”

Atlanta Dream Come to Veterans High School

A professional basketball team was in Central Georgia today.

The WNBA's Atlanta Dream were in town as a part of their annual 'Take the Show on the Road' campaign.

The ladies, just a week away from the start of their 6th season opener, took to the hardwood on the road at Veterans High School. Fans in the stands were entertained with watching the 2 time Eastern Conference Champs behind the scenes as well as having an autograph session with the Dream.

This is just one of 5 planned "Take the Show on the Road" trips for Atlanta this season but the only one scheduled for Central Georgia. The Dream tip off next Saturday at Philips Arena versus Skylar Diggins and the Tulsa Shock.

Craft Beer Store Opens in Warner Robins Monday

If variety is the spice of life, then the Kressin family of Lizella would be packed with a lot of heat.

Jeff Kressin is an Air Force Reserve officer, his wife, Beth, a dog breeder, and together they've owned numerous businesses, including a flight school and an alpaca farm.

Their latest venture adds new flavor, in fact 45 of them, at a Warner Robins craft beer store.

The Kressin family believes they're about to hook-on to an untapped desire.

Jeff Kressin said, "People in Middle Georgia have really been lacking something of this nature."

It's carry out. The Lazy Dog Growler is not a bar.

Customers will buy what's called a growler. They come in 32 or 64 ounce sizes.

Houston Relay for Life Raises $305k

Friday night, 126 teams and more than 1,500 participants continued the fight to find a cure for cancer.

Relay for Life activities in Houston County filled a track at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter.

Festivities, including live entertainment, started well-ahead of the 6:30 opening ceremony.

The hope is that money raised will advance researchers steps closer to finding a way to fight the disease that affects so many.

Some walkers told us they're celebrating their own survival and courage, while others were walking either for loved ones lost, those still fighting, and those who conquered the disease.

This year's event raised more than $305,000 for the American Cancer Society's work.

Teams will keep it going throughout the night and finish Saturday morning.
