Local Track Coach Hosts Running Camp

Charlie Santiago volunteers as a track and cross-country coach, where he has coached the likes of Olympian Carl Lewis and Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne. Now he coaches his community at the fourth annual Coach Charlie Fitness and Running Camp.

The Houston County event is split into two sessions, with one in the morning, and one in the evening, the cooler parts of the day.

Coach Charlie has forty runners this year, a number that has grown over the years.

"I'm challenging the people of Houston County and Bibb County to come out here with [their] families, and bond," said Santiago.

The camp is $30, which includes a T-shirt and registration for two 5K races. It runs through late July.

Two People Injured in Warner Robins Cruiser Accident

A Warner Robins police officer and one other person were injured when a cruiser collided with a pickup Thursday morning.

It happened around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Russell Parkway and Kimberly Road.

Spokeswoman Tabitha Pugh said the officer and a person in the other vehicle, a GMC truck, were taken to the Houston County Medical Center. A news release from the sheriff's department say the injuries were minor.

The intersection was closed for about an hour.

The Houston County Sheriff's Office is investigating, she said. Anyone with information on the case can call the Houston sheriff's department at (478) 542-2080.

Robins Reserve Band Practices for July 4 Celebration

You have one last chance to watch the Air Force Reserve Band in action.

They are headlining the Independence Day Celebration in Warner Robins.

The band is using the last few weeks leading up to the big hurrah to practice.

"We are not losing our jobs, thankfully, but we will be filtering into the remaining bands that we have left in the Air Force," says Frances Kness, the vocalist of Reserve Generation.

She initially joined the Air Force as a weapons stimulator, but her love of music lead her to join the band.

"You're not only supporting your country, but at the same time, spreading a good message for the Air Force and also teaching people around you," she says.

But she only has a few weeks left with her four bandmates.  The band was eliminated after a series of budget cuts at Robins Air Force Base.

So... You Want to Be an Alligator Trapper?

Have you always dreamed of wading through swamps in search of 10-foot toothy monsters? Are you only emotionally attached to your limbs? Do you long for a job that puts your life in jeopardy?

If the answer is yes to these questions, you should consider a career in alligator trapping.

In all seriousness, the state's Department of Natural Resources issues trapping licenses to help keep the gator population in check.

And to keep the general public safe.
